Open your router login page
The first thing is, you need to open your router account to start the port forwarding steps. For this, you need to arrange your router IP address, username and password. You may get all these details from the stickers on the router’s body. Either, try this below section to know your router’s IP address.
Know your router’s IP
First, open the Run command bar. You can do it directly by search run on the search bar. By clicking on the “Run” option from the search result, tap the Windows and the letter R both at the single time to get the Run bar open. After that, tap the Backspace key once to confirm that there is nothing left on this bar. Next, type cmd on it and click on OK or press the Enter key. In doing this, the black background Command Prompt will appear with a blinking cursor. Type “ipconfig” on it (Command Prompt) without using quotations and hit on the Enter button. This will load several messages on the Command Prompt window, among which find the Default Gateway section.
The number along with dots beside the Default Gateway section is your router’s IP address. Copy it and save it on a notepad or any other means for the further router port forwarding process.
Find suitable username and password for your router
If you are not getting the username and password of your router from the stickers of its body. Then, try to browse the internet to check the default username and password of your router model. Otherwise, try these combinations one by one:
- Username: admin, Password: admin
- Username: admin, Password: password
Or even, these below can be the combinations.
- Username: admin, Password: keep it blank
After, knowing your router’s IP address from the Command Prompt window, place it on the address bar of a browser of your choice. Next click on the Enter button, this is the overall process which ends by opening the login page of your router on the screen.
Log in to your router’s account using proper username and password
Then, at this login page of your router, you will get the blank space for the username and password. Fill these space with the proper details and click on Login. Now, you will find your router’s account will open.
Run an application via port forwarding
On your router’s home account, check the left-hand side panel and click on Security from the available options. After that, tap on Rules and click on Add for inbound or outbound traffic, according to the application which you plan to run. Under the Service options select your choice host for the service you want to avail. In case, if you find that the service is not available among the options under Services then you need to add it. Select an item from the Action menu. After doing this click on the Send to LAN Server field and enter the IP address of your local server.
Further, from the WAN User menu select a choice by dropping down the options. Also, make a choice for the Log menu. If you start this process, for the first time then it is better to select the enabled choice. After making all these changes click on Apply to confirm.
Way to add a service

- Go to the Security tab and click on Services and then on Add Custom Service.
