  1. At first, open a web browser and then on the address bar type ‘www.routerlogin.net’  and press the ‘enter’ key from the keyboard.
  2. When the login window appears on your computer select the ‘option ‘Cancel’.
  3. After that, type the serial number of your router and select the ‘continue’ key.
  4. Now a window will appear on your computer screen containing all the security questions.
  5. Then, provide the answers to the security questions and select the option ‘Continue’.
  6. After that, you will get the option to reset the admin password of your Netgear router.
  7. Next, provide the new password which you have just set and select the option ‘Next’ to proceed to the next step.
  8. Now, try to login to your router with the new password.

Resetting the password in a Netgear router

Follow the steps to reset the password in the Netgear router:

  2. Then, in the address bar of the router type ‘www.routerlogin.net’ and then, press the ‘Enter’ key from the keyboard.
  3. After that, provide the username and the password.

  5. Then, in the homepage select the option ‘Wireless’  and then in the SSID field provide the username.
  6. Next, type the new password in the space for a new password.

  3. After that, type “ípconfig” in the Çommand Prompt’ and press the Énter’key.
  4. Now, find out the IP address of the router which is the section ‘Default Gateway’.
  5. Then, open a web browser and then type ‘www.routerlogin.net’ and press the Énter’key from the keyboard.
  6. Then, provide the username and the password in the space.
  7. Now, in the router homepage select the option ‘Backup Settings’ and select the option ‘’Erase to delete the default username and the password on your computer.
  8. Finally, select ÓK’ for confirmation.

Changing the password in the older Netgear routers

To change the password in the older Netgear routers go through the steps:

  1. At first open the internet browser on your computer and in the address bar type the address ‘http://192.168.1.1’and press the Énter’ from the keyboard.
  2. After that, provide the username and the password in the correct space to log in to the router.
  3. Next, below ‘Setup select the ‘Wireless Settings option which is in the left of the ‘SamartWizard’.
  4. Now, delete the password from the ‘Paraphrase’ in the ‘Security Options’.
